The Gimp - Graphics Development. If you don’t have the money to buy proprietary graphics programs, such as Photoshop, you might want to try The Gimp. The Gimp is free, powerful, stable, and feature rich. As with any program, it takes some practice, but a few Google searches will produce a plethora of tutorials, templates, and forums that will walk you through doing nearly anything you want to do.
The Gimp is developed for most of the popular operating systems, including:

- Mac OS X
- Ubuntu
- and many other flavors of Linux
The Gimp also provides a plugin registry where you can browse different plugins to install that will expand the functionallity of the software.
